This exhibition showed Lu Yang's latest creation-The Great Adventure of the Material World. It is the second work in her Material World Knight series and also the most challenging work in the game form among her creations. Her work The Material World Knight series create an ideology distinct from current society and bring together many characters from previous works to form her own league of legends. In the material world, audiences can go through multiple identity transformations by interacting with the game work through becoming game players. They are the protagonist of the work—The Material World Knight, exploring the universe, acquiring energy, being destroyed and reborn and experiencing internal fight with their own emotions, desires and themselves. The Great Adventure of the Material World contains all the distinctive elements of Lu Yang's previous works to construct a virtual game world that can be infinitely explored by players. With The Great Adventure of the Material World were gradually upgraded in the course of the exhibition, which drived audiences to much soul-searching regarding their roles in the game work. The exhibition used stand-alone PC games, VR games, multi-screen images, mysterious spaceship devices and other diverse forms of media. The result was the audience both experienced and helped create the exhibition using their different fragments of the Material world and thereby came to better understand this distinctly different world.
