Introduction

On June 10, 2017, the Cc Foundation & Art Center launched "Social Emotion" first collection exhibition. Transmit and receive real-world emotional signals to guide the audience to re-experience and feel individual emotions that cannot be ignored in the process of growth. This exhibition, the first collection exhibition since the establishment of the Cc Foundation & Art Center, was divided into three chapters: "subjective experience", "emotional expression" and "physical arousal", and includes the works of 13 important domestic and foreign artists. The works on display were all from the personal collection of Mr. David Chau, founder of the Cc Foundation & Art Center, some of which were on display in China for the first time, and included images, installations, paintings, theatres, dances and sounds, and included a series of live performances, lectures and other activities.

The title of the exhibition was "Social Emotion" , tooken from the social attribute of emotion in social psychology, referred to the subjective psychological experience and psychological feeling that accompany the individual in the whole social psychological process, and was the emotion that the individual experiences and expresses in the long-term social interaction. According to the three components of "social emotion", the exhibition was presented in three chapters in stages: subjective experience, emotional expression and physical arousal. Through the self-feeling, expression change and physiological response of different emotional states, the exhibition explored the connotation and meaning of social culture, and attached itself to the innate basic emotions, forming complex emotions that were interwoven and penetrating into each other, that was, socialized emotions.

As the first chapter of the exhibition, "Social Emotion" began with "subjective experience", presented the unique narratives of different artists about individual emotional states, and invited the live audience to experience their own and inner emotions subjectively. The second chapter, "Social Emotion · Emotional Expression", recreated the imagination of space and led the traditional "white box" space to escape. This chapter presented the live performance of "Body × Voice" in the form of exhibition, and placed it in the same space and time with the "objectified" art works, focusing on the movement forms of various body parts when emotional states occur. In the third chapter of the exhibition, "Social Emotion · Physical Arousal" extended the external physical expression to the internal physiological response of emotion, in order to stimulate the audience's brain stem, amygdala, internal and external secretory glands and other extensive neural structures, to further explored the physiological conditions of emotional arousal. At this point, the exhibition "Social Emotion" from the individual's psychological content, action form and physiological basis, forming its unique field.

Mr. David Chau, founder of the Cc Foundation & Art Center, had been advocating the concept of "de-curating" art exhibitions in the hope of expressing and experiencing the essence of art in a nonlinear spatial narrative. Therefore, the exhibition emphasized the subjective feeling of the viewer's social emotions in space.
