Introduction

Andreas Gursky was born in Leipzig, Germany in 1955. He is a professor of The Dusseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. In the 1980s, Under the tutelage of German photography masters Becher and his wife, Gusky is famous for the landscape architecture photos with high angles and large sizes. The price of his works has broken the world photography auction record many times, and he still holds the world record for the highest price of photography works. Gusky was born in Leipzig, East Germany. His parents took him to West Germany as an infant in 1955 and settled in Dusseldorf in 1957. Gusky's father and grandfather were both successful commercial photographers, and he mastered the art of commercial photography before graduating from high school, which may explain the visual language and bright colors of advertising that often appear in his later work.
