Cc Foundation & Art Centre is pleased to announce the exhibition “WGNSNBGBRSWG 3.26（_L_I_E_）” by “DEVOLUTION” will be hold on July 8th 2022.
The original exhibition was scheduled on March 26th, which titled 'I tell you not to tell others that I told you' - derived from a Hokkien twisting phrase. Through a space where curiosity and emptiness are mutually induced and full of uncertainty, the artist team wanted to provide a state of tension in the environment, a spatial experience that is lacking in the modern metropolis. This will allow the viewers becoming a sum of bodies, a procession, that are controlled by the power of space once they entry.
Coincidentally in the initial project, “DEVOLUTION” degraded architecture, which has always been concerned about the city, focused their attention on the role that art plays in the fashions and social attributes of urban life, as well as the security, certainty, refinement, and the faded contingency that corresponds to these in the highly urbanized modern city.
The epidemic in April interrupted the exhibition program, and many spaces in Shanghai were also the target of this accidental hit over a two-month period. Now that the exhibition has been reopened, the degraded buildings remain in the space coordinate of Cc Art Centre, while 3.26 has become a preserved time coordinate. Those two coordinates both demonstrate that our imagination of the city is still too conservative and naive, that modern urban life is still unpredictable, an open and well-connected city can still be deconstructed and cut into fragment and confrontational parts. The new title of the exhibition is then changed to the memorable “WGNSNBGBRSWG 3.26（_L_I_E_）”, and the exhibition props that were completed before March 26th are reserved, but not as a power.
