Liao Guohe's solo exhibition, Lost People (猿人)organized by Cc Foundation & Art Centre is opening on November 10, 2021. This would be the first exhibition after they relocated.
The theme of exhibition is “Lost People”, a metaphor refers to lost individuals and groups in real society, which to contra-distinguish the original status of human beings - "猿人" . The exhibition has been set up as a non-linear narrative, visitors are expect to take all exhibiting objects as a whole,Thus to give a clear guide for audiences as a reference.
Liao's artistic methodology would convince viewers to believe his constant exploring on medium. his paintings are often interspersed with a non-linear narration. He breaking the stereotype of words and images by changing the display of Chinese characters and idiosyncratic elements. Those images are complicated but easy to distinguish, it seems to have a relatively logical closure,however there are no evidence shows an undisputed binary affair between image and intention. The main characters and symbols of the image has been created under a deliberately omitted background, which made a series of collages to ask visitors to complicate the “puzzle” in their mind.
“Never forget why you started, and your mission can be accomplished.” Whether it is the lines that vividly capture the figures or the rough brushstrokes on canvas, audience can always feel the strong “co-vibration” form his works. Artist wants to have a lasting peace, mutual prosperity, openness & inclusive, cleanness & pretty world. Be carried till the wishes!
