Kayode Ojo, born in 1990 in Cookeville, USA, lives and works in New York. His multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, painting, video, and photography, and examines seductive moments within consumerist culture. Ojo analyzes status symbols, social reputation, and the iconography of desire, often sourcing objects online and transforming everyday items into glamorous, suggestive assemblages. Conceived with a strong sense of staging, his sculptures evoke a drama of looking, engaging voyeurism and scopophilia, while captions drawn from product descriptions function as deadpan consumerist poetry. Alongside these works, Ojo’s photographs capture nightlife scenes in which jewelry, fashion, and bodies operate as props of seduction. Through illusion and careful display, he reconfigures mass-produced materials into objects that radiate glamour, excess, and intrigue.
