Korakrit Arunanondchai, born in 1986 in Bangkok, Thailand, is a contemporary video and multimedia artist who divides his time between Brooklyn, New York, and Bangkok. His practice incorporates video, sound, performance, and installation to examine the entanglement of history, identity, spirituality, and technology within a globalized context. Arunanondchai is best known for his 2017 installation With history in a room filled with people with funny names 4, which received widespread critical acclaim and an award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Raised in a multicultural environment—his father from a Chinese-Thai family and his mother having lived in multiple countries due to her diplomat father—his work reflects layered cultural perspectives. He earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009 and an MFA from Columbia University in 2012.
