Jason Fox, born in 1964 in Yonkers, New York, currently lives and works in Poughkeepsie, New York. For nearly three decades, Fox has explored the psychologically charged spaces embedded within both American culture and the medium of painting itself. His adventurous, highly idiosyncratic paintings—from his early works to the present—are populated by invented beings drawn from modernist art, autobiographical reflection, and mythic symbolism, as well as recurring figures from comics, fantasy cinema, and popular music.

As a result, Fox’s paintings often distill broad currents of collective imagination into an intimate image—each brushstroke and chromatic decision carries an emotional weight, revealing the unique capacity of painting to express organic forms and shifts in intuitive perception.
