Diamond Stingily, born in 1990, is an American artist and poet who lives and works in New York City. Her practice explores identity, iconography, mythology, and childhood, often drawing on personal memory and cultural experience to create emotionally and politically charged work. Raised in Chicago, Stingily spent much of her childhood in her mother’s hair salon, an environment that continues to inform her engagement with the body, gender, and everyday spaces. She studied creative writing, a background that closely informs her multidisciplinary practice. Stingily has exhibited widely at institutions and galleries including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; Greene Naftali; Kunstverein München; the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts; and the New Museum, New York. In addition to her visual art practice, she is a published author and hosts a podcast-style radio program, The Diamond Stingily Show, further extending her work across literary and sonic forms.
